Upcoming appearance in Reno

96b7abfd-50c6-451c-9d1a-447e89293616It’s almost here! This week marks my 7th RT Convention. This convention holds a special place in my heart because its where I finally met one of my favorite people, Rene, in person. We’d met online at fanfiction.net, becoming fans of each others stories. My username is ruthless527 and she is DaphneRene.

When I saw that the convention was close to her in Southern California and they had a 2 day beginning writers workshop, I asked if she would be willing to attend with me. We’ve gone together almost every year since. *I missed the one in New Orleans a few years back due to life getting in the way.

formalRT2013The second year we went was in Chicago and that’s where we met our fabulous friend, Amanda. We’ve been the Three Musketeers at RT ever since. This is where we get to let loose and party and geek out at all the amazing authors we’ve been admiring for years. I thought I was going to pass out when I met Richelle Mead and then Cassandra Clare.

This year RT is in Reno, NV which is only a 2 hour drive from my home. Which means I can bring home as many books and swag as I can fit in my car, not just my suitcase. Whoo hoo!! A couple of my favorite writing buddies are also going this year so we’re going to have a blast!

So, if you’re in the Reno area, come to the Giant Book Fair on Saturday, May 19th at the Peppermill Resort. The cost is only $10 for the fair or free with a library card. Or stay the whole day for $55 and mingle with a room of amazing authors and then party with us in the evening. And make sure you find me in YA Alley and pick up some swag, buy a signed copy of Pucker Up in the original cover which is going to be a collector’s item, or just say Hi! I’ll also have copies of Mr. Whiskers to sign.

Stop by and get a sneak peek of the next book in the Damsels of Distress series, Sucking Face, coming out in late July. I’ll have pre-order information and details about a Goodreads giveaway I’ll be launching soon. You can also check back here for the 411.

I can’t wait to meet you at RT Reno!

Literary Can’t Even Book Club

A few weeks ago, my daughter sent me a youtube link for this online book club called Literary Cant Even because they had done a book review of The Tenth Life of Mr. Whiskers. Yes, my book was reviewed and they really liked it! I mean, they were talking about hunting me down to make me write more of Laney and Kody’s story because they wanted more! I am planning to continue their adventures after my trilogies are completed. So, don’t worry, ladies. title (2)

I listened to their review of Mr.whiskers-many times-and these ladies are hilarious! There are six videos for book reviews so far and they are quite entertaining. Caution though if your listening to them at work, use your headphones. They are not PG. The videos are only audible so at least you won’t get too distracted at work.

The books they choose to review are what they consider outrageous and bizarre. Not sure how they found Mr. Whiskers, though I guess it’s a little off the wall. Not as bizarre as a couple other books they reviewed, but it’s different.

What I enjoyed most about listening to their chat was the banter of good friends. They didn’t try to censor themselves, just spoke their minds.  You could tell these women were good friends by the various tangents that took over the conversation. And I love tangents. I’m definitely looking forward to their next book review.

So if you want to learn about some bizarre books out there, give these friends a listen. You’ll find them at Audrey In June. Listen, Like, and Subscribe.
