The Tenth Life of Mr. Whiskers is FREE this weekend

title (2)My short story, The Tenth Life of Mr. Whiskers, is FREE on Amazon this weekend, January 26 and 27. It’s a crazy little story about a witch who attempts to bring her boss’ dead cat back to life. It’s funny, if a little dark, so if you have a twisted sense of humor like I do, you’re going to love it. And it’s FREE!! So go forth and download it and tell all your Kindle-loving friends to download it too.

Also, I’ve dropped the ebook price of Pucker Up, the first book in my Damsels OF Distress series, to $0.99. Here’s the new, updated blurb:

Ivy always thought that breaking a curse with True Love’s Kiss was the ultimate romantic gesture in fairy tales. But when she has to plant one on a prince who’s been dead for 200 years, it’s just gross.

After the “incident”, seventeen-year-old Ivy discovers she’s a witch, and she’s not at all happy about it. An underground organization of human warriors called the Eradicators are hunting her, like they do all other creatures tainted with magic—witches and wizards, werewolves, vampires, and fae to name a few. To escape, she’s found refuge in Salmagundi; a town hidden behind magical wards to anyone who doesn’t use magic.

But she can’t relax yet. The secret she keeps about her past could get her killed if discovered. Keeping a low profile is her main goal. Too bad Garren—the most obnoxious, pretentious, and not hot guy she ever met—won’t leave her alone. No other person on the planet can get her blood racing like he can.

Now the wards are failing, putting every resident in danger of being discovered by the Eradicators.

Thankfully, a possible solution has been found and Ivy is the key. All she has to do is awaken the wizard prince who cast the wards over 200 ye

ars ago and bring him back to Salmagundi to save the town. Only two obstacles stand in the way: his whereabouts are unknown and only True Love’s Kiss can break the curse he’s under.

That’s right. She has to kiss the dead guy.

Together with her cousin and tag-a-long Garren, she sets out on a quest to find her prince. After putting up with dragons, vampires and one too many necrophilia jokes, can she survive long enough to take one for the team and PUCKER UP?

On another note, I hope everyone is recovering well from their Christmas holiday. The past couple days have been busy, but joyful. Now, as I gaze around my mess of a house—bits of wrapping paper and cardboard, half-eaten cookies, and pieces to new games scattered all over the floor—I just want to crawl back into bed until 2013. Let someone else clean it up. That would be a much appreciated present for this worn-out mom, although my Severus Snape replica wand is pretty cool. Too bad I can’t make it work.

One of the best parts of Christmas day was surprising my teenage daughter with her new iPhone 4. We had her convinced she wasn’t getting it. Then, right before dinner, we gave it to her. I had my sister-in-law sit next to her and answer the phone when I called from another room. She hands it to her saying “It’s for you.” Confused, my daughter answers it and I ask over the line “How do you like your new phone?” She went nuts. Tears in her eyes, she practically mowed me down giving me a hug. The huge smile that lingered on her face the rest of the night was the best gift of all.

What special gift did you give or receive this Christmas?

Merry Christmas world—and Alan Rickman

This is my favorite time of year because I love to give gifts and do nice things for my friends , family, and perfect strangers. Yes, I’m the person that instead of giving money to the person on the street with their hand out, I invite them to McDonald’s for a hamburger and conversation. Of course, most people just want the money, but I did have a nice chat with a homeless man over coffee at the downtown bus terminal once.

title (2)So this year, I thought I’d do something for the masses: make my short story, The Tenth Life of Mr. Whiskers, FREE on Amazon on December 25th and 26th. Don’t have a Kindle? They have an app for that. If your sense of humor is a bit on the twisted side, like mine, you’ll love this story. It’s  about a witch who needs to bring her boss’ dead cat back to life but nothing goes right. If you enjoy the story, tell your friends. If you don’t, tell your enemies. Let’s share the joy with as many people in the world as possible.

On another note, Alan Rickman, if you’re reading this, Merry Christmas from your number one fan. And now that I have your attention, when is your movie, Gambit, coming to the US? I’m dying to see it and not just because your naked in some scenes, though that is a big part of it. It’s going on my list.

So, Merry Christmas everyone! Be safe, be joyful, and happy reading!
